Shaan When this young boy first arrived on the screen with his innocent looks, proper English and a smile that would leave you dumbstruck in no time, no one was left untaken. For those who were initially unfamiliar with him, curiosities were peaked to see who the son of the famous film actress Neelo really is.
Back from the States to end up on the film sets here, Shaan took to everyone's appeal. His appearance was sudden and came with a bang. I remember at school how many girls.
sat writing letters to him in pink pens, thinking dreamily of this Pakistani boy, the first one to be seen in years who wasn't anything like Jawed Sheikh or Nadeem: He was far cuter, dressed well and seemed to be the answer to every school girls prayers. No doubt, Shaan was an instant hit.
However, that was all initial. Looks is as far as Shaan managed to get points with, his acting skills being below average. One thing, however, got Shaan more than popular: his way with the Lollywood women. Being swung in innumerable scandals with stars like Reema and Mishi Khan in the past and Noor more recently, Shaan is no doubt our industries Don Juan.
In many interviews, I have watched people like Resham swoon at his name: Shaan or even his real name: Armaan Shahid (which if you ask me sounds much better).
Shaan, however, has more than a reputation than that. He is thought of as being a highly moody, temperamental, arrogant and obnoxiously rude person. 'I am not interested in showing off or collecting trophy's and awards.
I have enough already and if I was so obsessed with filling my cupboard with awards I would have at least bothered to attend the ceremonies!' Need we say more.
When Shaan first got into directing, the public had hopes that he would be Lollywood's savior; having all that exposure, going to film school in New York, being well educated, no matter how bad he gets, he would still be better than the rest.
Not only did he prove everyone wrong, Shaan was unable to match the public's high expectation of him and sooner than expected, Shaan came crashing down with a big bang. Shaan's first was a film called 'Guns and Roses' and soon after, others such as 'Mujhay Chand Chahiyeh' were complete disasters.
I asked around about Shaan's movie and all I heard was 'flop'. His most recent production, 'Moosa Khan' proves Shaan's 'no-talent' for directing. The film used not only the theme music of ' The Last of the Mohicans' and that of 'Gladiator', it had Prodigy's song 'Smack my bitch up' roaring in some scenes.
The word "Original" definitely does not make sense to this fast- descending star.
'The action scenes of my films are shot in such a manner that they resemble the style of a lot of western action films. The way they are presented is similar to the western films but at least I don't duplicate Indian films like so many do.'
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I suppose it's time for Shaan to start applying that proverb to himself now. Who knows, disappearing for a while might just as well bring him a celebrative come back - whenever that would be.
However, with the way things are progressing these days for him, it's more necessary than wanted. Lets hope Shaan can wisen up his act, so to speak, soon we wouldn't want a Shaan free Lollywood in the future-or would we?
