Sana

"For film buffs, Sana is not a new name. Although she has always been maintaing a low profile, there's no way her screen presence can be ignored. She has succeeded in standing out amongst the likes of heavy weights like Resham, Reema and Meera.

Today after spending some seven years in the industry, Sana stands as a proof that slow and steady wins the race. A brief look at Sana and her filmography"

How did you start?
I started with Syed Noor?s Sangam. I had a supporting role in the film and my performance fetched me a Nigar Award too. Before that I had been into modeling and had done quite a few commercials and some fashion shows.

How many films have you worked in so far?
So far 50 films of mine have hit the theatres. 15 more are on the floors.

How do you manage to stay in shape?
My erratic schedule doesn?t permit me to follow any particular diet or
exercise regime, but whenever possible, I take walks and try to follow the exercise as much as I can.

Most memorable film?
"Jannat Ki Talaash. Though it wasn?t a superhit film but I gained a lot of critical acclaim from the film. Reshman also remains my favourite film till now. It had me as the central character and it was only after this film that filmmakers started taking me as a seriously.

What about your latest released "Yeh Dil Aapka Hoa"?
Well I was very excited about this film when it was going to release because It is technically an excellent film..

Your greatest achievement.
The fact that I started out as the second lead and today nearly all films being made have me in the lead role. That is one of the biggest achievements I have made in my life.

what do u think is key to survival here?
Allah Tallah ki meherbaani hoti he yeh kaamyaabian. By the grace of God, my self confidence has got me where I stand today.

Do you have any complains from this industry?
Well there are quite a few, but it's no point cribbing about things at the end of the day. Who will listen to them and address my grievances. koi hai nahin jisse complain karen.

Do u feel you've been able to achiever what you'd set forth for?
Seven years after working here, I think I have succeeded in making a place for myself in the industry. My acting abilities have gotten me my due credit and recognition. I started as a second lead but I am now playing the main lead.

Which language you prefer, Urdu or Punjabi films?
Though I am comfortable with both of them, I personally feel that Urdu films offer greater margin for performance. They have wider variety of roles and you can actually improvise your performance. Punjabi films, most of the times, only require you to be a muttyar or a Tawaif.

Who do you think is the most promising in the current lot?
I respect Shan as a director. He does less but quality work. He's a
refreshing addition to the list of directors in the film industry.

Are you working on TV too?
I have done a couple of plays earlier and might do one of Afreen Baig's play in future too.

Are there more and different expectations from a film actress working on TV compared to the regular people?
People always expect more from film actresses when they make an appearance on TV. It is difficult for a film actor/actress to be taken as a raw newcomer on TV, since people already know them and want to see them doing better and different work from the films. People expect more glamour. Unfortunately it's not only glamour that works on TV. Script, director and role etc., everything counts.

Future plans?
Unlike a number of actresses, I wouldn't want to remain in the film industry for more than a couple of years. I believe that one should retire gracefully rather than wait to be kicked out.
