Which part of Pakistan do you hail from? Islamabad.
What is your Zodiac sign? Pisces.
Where were you schooled? Froebels International School
Were you involved in any sports during your school days? I won numerous swimming marathons; basket ball was also a favourite.
How were you approached to represent L'Oréal Paris as the official spokesperson in Pakistan? What factors did you consider in making this decision, if any? I was contacted by the brand’s creative agency and when I found out what they had to offer I was totally spell bound. The brand L'Oréal and the urge to say "Because You’re Worth It" proudly in my industry was enough for me to say "yes i do" to the offer!
After being chosen out of a population of 170 million people to represent the world’s leading beauty brand, do you feel you have come a long way in your profession? I can’t say I have come a long way because I am still relatively new in the industry and achieving such a landmark in just three years is something I thank divine intervention for! It also makes me feel that I did something right in my career which was to be myself and not compromise on my standards for anyone. The wrong decisions that I took and how I had the will power to make things right paid off and I believe that working with dignity and being humble after every project that I did has bought me fruit in the long run!
Tell us a bit about your work as a model Being a ramp and print model and a mother of two, I started my modeling career post marriage and children, somewhat unconventionally. I was awarded the Best Emerging Model in 2008 at the prestigious Mobilink Sunday Face of the year awards and have sashayed down many a Pakistani ramp including that of the coveted Samsung Giorgio Armani Fashion Show.
How difficult is it in your opinion to balance your personal life with your professional life, as sometimes it can be difficult for a working woman? In my opinion balance and harmony are automatically achieved if you are in love with what you believe in. I am the sort of person who does not complicate simple matters and I avoid becoming a slave to the tyranny of petty issues at work or at home.
Neither do I strive too hard for balance cause living with like-minded people you grow, evolve, adapt and find your place. So at this point in my life I can proudly say that I have proved to be caring strongly supportive wife, a crazy fun loving mom and above all a thorough and dedicated professional.
Ten years from now, where do you want to see the progressive women of Pakistan? I don’t believe in making long term plans because I believe in today and what we can do with the time that is in our hands. We can dream about a great progressive future and that gives us the courage to strive forward but instead of sitting and planning things I believe in contributing today with the resources we have available. Above all I believe in the unity of women together to take bolder stronger steps towards a brighter, feminine and friendly world.
What defines beauty and glamour in your opinion? People find it strange but I combine my sense of beauty with deep scintillating spiritualism. I am the sort of person who will pray upon a star before a show, or a ray of crystallized sunshine to give an eternal feel to my shoot. Beauty for me is a mixture of personality, unique grace and an inner calm which gives the aura of being divine.
How do you feel being part of L'Oréal Paris? Simply worth it! Being a part of L'Oréal Paris gives me the distinction of being part of a global brand and legacy while it also endears to me a sense of accomplishment for the dedication I have put in my work...it’s a feeling of bliss and joy. I had thought the industry’s pettiness and war of the self made titans would weigh me down, but God has special plans for me and I am grateful. I now feel like a real celebrity and it is a feeling of great honour that has been bestowed upon me. I feel that I share something in common with some of the great celebrities of the world as we endorse the largest and most prestigious cosmetic brand together.
What is the most thrilling or challenging aspect of being part of the largest cosmetic and beauty brand in the world? A bond with L'Oréal Paris is a sheer thrill in itself. I am determined to live up to the expectations that comes with being a L'Oréal Paris spokespeople of combining class, glamour and dignity to this field and to show people that beauty should be an integral part of our lifestyle. I WANT EVERYONE IN MY COUNTRY FROM EVERY WALK OF LIFE TO FEEL THE BEAUTY that exists within themselves, and how L'Oréal Paris coming to Pakistan is going to make the experience easier and much more special!
Considering the problems the country is facing today, do you think you can use this platform to send a positive message across internationally? Being an extremely positive person inside I feel a great urge to spread this burst of good energy around the country and around the world for that matter. I couldn’t have asked for a better platform than this because it gives me a reason to project beauty as well as the confidence that the women of Pakistan have within themselves.
If you were to pick a charitable cause, which one would you pick? I very frankly believe in silent hidden charity and not making a hue and cry over how I’m able to help others. My charity begins at home but if I were to do it on a large scale than it would have to be for the welfare of children and oppressed women in particular.
You have garnered so much success and acclaim in your field, what would your message be for the young women of our country? Never to lose hope in what you rightly believe in!
What is your favorite product? High Volume Mascara by L’Oréal Paris.
