Meera Ansari Bold, beautiful & arty Meera Ansari is one of those girls who are choosy in their career from the very outset. She has the sense and the strength to decide at such a young age what's and what's not good for her. That's the sole reason that you do not see her face over exposed in every possible commercial and billboard hoardings.
Daughter of veterans Bushra Ansari and Iqbal Ansari - who hardly need an introduction - Meera is set on making her presence felt, however, not through acting and rather through modeling.
That's what she loves doing best. And it would not be wrong to say she fits that role perfectly as she says, "I do like dressing up and I do so once in while." Her once in a while is 'when going out with friends'. But that does not happen often, as she loves her own company more than that of others.
In fact, that is the time when the artist within her rears its head and she gives her thoughts and feelings a face, on her canvas. Modeling for her is just a hobby; she has serious things on her mind like painting and studying. "Modeling is just a hobby for me at this stage, and nothing more.
I am not in a position to say that it will be my career for I still have lots of decisions to make. Though, I would like to do my Masters in Art and then teach the subject at some reputable institution." That's new coming from a glamorous figure, to be a teacher. You hardly come across that sort anymore.
Meera made her foray in showbiz some two years back and is even today as choosy as she was at that stage. Going for all that comes her way is not her style. At the time of her stepping into modeling, she was still a student of 'A level's'.
At present, she is content studying at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, where she plans to her majors in painting. Modeling did not happen overnight for this petite girl.
For a long time, people had been telling her to get into it due to her thin frame, which is not because of any strict diet regime that she follows. She loves to tell that she is constitutionally like this. Finally, when she'd had a bit too much she simply decided to go for it.
Getting permission from her parents had never been a problem for the fortunate lass as she has been lucky enough to garner the support of her parents in whatever she has ever planned in life. The same holds true for her elder sister, who recently tied the knot.
However, ramp modeling is certainly not on, not even her supportive parents are in a mood to let their daughter get away with it. However, the reason is simple enough; they think their daughter is still too young to get into that.
Meera too is chill with their decision for she is in no hurry to try that out. She's got the patience and all the time in the world to take on ramp modeling whenever she feels like it.
Meera got started by getting her portfolio done by the dynamic duo Ather Shahzad. Once she'd had that done, there started pouring in offers for commercials, which she took on one after the other. And all were classy brands, no 'ghee walay' ads here! In fact in one of her ads of 'Moisturising Soap', we saw both mother and daughter together.
Is this the first time you people have made an appearance together? "When I was 9 or 10 years old I acted in a couple of plays, each time of course with my mother. In one of them I was in fact my mother's daughter, according to the role." And she says that it was definitely fun working with her real mom.
As for getting into acting seriously she has made up her mind. "Acting is not for me. I tried it and thought it to be nice, but I am not drawn to it. You need to be passionate about whatever you do." No matter what her decision, Meera often finds herself inundated with acting offers. The latest one came from the quarters of Mehreen Jabbar, and though flattered, Meera still didn't go for it.
Modeling she feels is a lot of fun, but acting, "I don't have the pull for it. And no, I certainly have nothing against acting, I enjoy watching actors do their bit, I love watching plays and films. That's not the point, but I enjoy being an observer rather than being observed," she says.
One thing's sure that you're not going to see this girl in any serial or tele play, as she has still not developed a liking for it. As for films that too is something she has kept on hold for the future. And the reason again is the same as acting in serials that she does not feel drawn towards this genre.
"If I was to have fun doing it I would certainly go for a film." About the kind of films being made today she feels that we as filmmakers have come a long way from the sort that were made in the past. "Some time back, I saw Javed Sheikh's 'Yeh Dil Aap Ka Hua', and I really liked it."
It is still shoots, this girl really enjoys. "Still shoots can be tiring but I really have fun on them." So far she has a couple of these to her credit. Meera loves to do what she is doing these days and is in it just for the fun of it.
It is certainly not for money that she might choose this career. "It's not like I have to support myself, thankfully. So money's not a deciding factor." However, being financially independent is something you can easily get hooked on to.
Money for what she does is nothing more than a bonus for Meera, or so she feels at this stage. But there is something you might not know about this girl. It is to be a photographer that she desires most.
And Helmut Newton is the photographer who really inspires her. She dreams to become a smooth photographer of Newton's caliber on one fine day. All the prayers for you, Meera!
