Drama serial "Khaleej".

Ayaz in "Khaleej" (1986), Nabeel in "Kasak" (1992), Sajjoo in "Tansen" (1990), Dr. Shehryar in "Ab Kay Hum Bichhray" (2000). I have received lot of awards but no major ones as their criteria is "Different".

Family background,Is there any artist in your family other than you?
No. As a matter of fact I come from a very conservative feudal family.

Is it your Hobby or Profession?
Hobby and passion. (Never a profession).

What do you do other than this ? (Any other Profession) ?
I used to work in organizations in senior management positions and at the moment I'm just looking after my agricultural lands.

Place / Countries visited / performed?
I've visited all five continents but for performance: None.

How did it happen? Who discovered you?
Sahira Kazmi discovered me in "Khaleej" in 1986 by chance. She had alot of faith in me that I shall deliver, inspite of not having any background or experience of the foeld. The project was a mega hit and the rest is history.

What motivated you to choose art as a career? Any source of inspiration?
The satisfaction of doing something worthwhile in this histronics field which is good enough to earn me a name and fame.

If you were not the artist, what would you have been?
Holding a responsible position in some good organization as an MBA.

Your own favorite performance/s ?
Khaleej and Kasak.

Do you enjoy your field?
Definitely.

Are you satisfied with what you have done uptil now?
Not really. There is always room for more as it is a very vast field.

People you like to work with ?
Shoaib Mansoor, Mohsin Ali, Sahira Kazmi and Shehzad Khalil are the directors whom I like to work with. Naila Ansari and Haseena Moin are my favorite writers.

How many plays have been done by you?
About 15 or so may be. I have worked sporadically on TV. Very selective. Ocassionally.

How do you feel as an artist ?
Good enough. Gives a certain kind of a pleasure and satisfaction.

Your success secret?
My voice, eyes and intelligence apart from being down to earth.

Did you perform in any Pakistani movie ? If not why ?
No. I was offered a lot. Just not my kind of thing.

Whom do you call a good artist?
One who has observation, timing, delivery, intelligence, dedication, passion and god gifted.

Something you can share or you would like to share about your family life?
I'm very lucky to have a family that I have.

Do you think you are a good husband?
In all probability, I am.

Was your marriage arranged or love?
Arranged.

In your opinion which one is better? Reason?
Arranged is better as there are lesser expectations.

What can I say.

What are your leisure time activities?
My computer, mostly. Music.

What would you say to newcomers who want to enter the field?
There are no shortcuts. Work hard but without attitudes.

Future aims / Dreams?
As far as showbiz is concerned, I want to become a director, as I know what I can do and what I cannot.

Any memorable event of your life?
Oh so many.

Your favorite national / international artistes?
To name a few, Dilip Kumar, Meryl Streep, Harrison Ford, Munawwer Zareef and Ashwarya Rai are my favorite actors. I like too many singers but again to name a few are Englebert, Whitney Houston, Barbara Stries and, Rafi, Madam Noor Jehan and Lata. Nasir Kazmi, Ahmed Faraz and Allama Iqbal are my favorite poets.

Your favorites dish, color and dress?
Anything that is cooked well. Brown and Blue are the favorite colors. Both: Shalwar Kameez and jeans with a good top. Provided all are stitched well.

What do you think which dish you can best cook?
Omelette (with smile) only.

Describe yourself / Your Nature?
God fearing, loving one for humanity, down to eart, hard working, fun loving, without hang ups, straight forward, observant, intelligent, have a set of principles.

What's new your fans can watch ?
Karwat" from Lahore. "Doosri Aurat" and "Sarparast" from Karachi. They can also wait to see my future project as a director.
