Starting his career in the early ‘80s, Hassan Jahangir has been one of the most notable singers of our country. He has never followed the trends and has tried to come up with a new form of music. His song ‘Hava Hava’ made him a household name in Pakistan and India in the late eighties, and then his tracks ‘Shadi Na Karna Yaaron’ and ‘Hato Bacho’ gained immense popularity too. Hassan Jahangir has given a new face to Pakistani pop and has also ventured into hip hop successfully. Recently, we saw ‘Hava Hava’s’ remixed version in a Bollywood flick - ‘Chaalis Chauraasi’ featuring Naseeruddin Shah. And, we are all set to see some of his other tunes making it to Bollywood too. For now, let’s read about some of the likes and dislikes of singer Hassan Jahangir...
My biggest asset:
To live in a peaceful country
One person I would love to dine out with:
It’s a secret
My worst nightmare:
Losing my loved ones.
My definition of love is:
I have a big heart to accommodate many
One thing I hate about myself:
My habit of trusting people blindly
Something I would like to forget:
My wife’s death
Something I would like to remember:
The success of my song ‘Hava hava’
I feel over the cloud nine when:
I plan or do something and the result I get is more than my expectations
I get dejected when:
I see poverty everywhere. It makes me immensely sad.
Something that I am strongly possessive about:
When feeling low I prefer:
Listening to music
The most unforgettable moment of my life was:
When my father died
If I could be another person I would like to be:
Your favourite song?
Your all time favourite singers?
Alamgir and Mohammed Ali Shehki
Spread love and be good. Do something for the underprivileged people because that’s the way to improve the situation around you. If we find ways to eradicate poverty, only then we will be able to walk on the path of progress.
