Ali Sher Misfortune comes as a product of mistakes. Everybody commits them and it is usually said that the man who makes no mistakes doesn't really make anything.
Some take it to the heart whereas other fight because they believe that misfortune always come in by a door that has been left open. Ali Sher - the model turned actor, falls in the later bracket.
When he entered the showbiz, he did everything, which came to his way, no matter how small it was because he wanted to see his luck clicked. He wanted to give his luck a chance to do wonders.
However, soon he realised that life is a jigsaw puzzle with most of the parts missing and for his survival he'd have to find those missing ones by employing his sheer hard work and endearing potential.
Now, he is more focussed and dedicated with new ambition to make it big. He is going for the quality projects making sure that the mistakes he has committed in the past are no more repeated. Follows the interview for 'Mag4you.com'...
Ali what are the projects you are working on these days? I am working in two good projects and I have lots of hope associated with them. First is Syed Noor's 'Qaidee 786' and the second is Mubbashir Lukman's 'Pehla Pehla Piyar'.
Both films are of prestigious banners and I'm really working hard to give out the best in me. I guess I'm quite fortunate that whenever I work with a new director or a team they appreciate my performance and passion for acting.
And what about television? I'm rather busier on television these days as compared to films and all of them are excellent projects that will help me prove myself. Although, the list is big, but I would like to mention a few.
I'm doing a telefilm with Fahim Burney, 'Will You Marry Me' for Geo TV in addition to a soap. Another telefilm is under production with Farooq Mengal. I am also doing a serial along with the super stars of yesteryears 'Kafi', besides a serial with Yawar Hayat for PTV Lahore. Shazia Sikandar has cast me in her directorial debut serial with Sophia and Haider Sultan. Another good project offered to me is by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar with me, Farah and Babar Ali playing lead roles.
How do you find the response of seniors towards the junior artistes? It is the seniors whom we approach for guidance especially in the absence of any training institute for acting. All of my seniors have been very nice to me specially Shane and Babar Ali. Many people say many weird things about Shane, however he is not like that.
He is having his high time in the industry. He is a very busy artiste so if due to lack of time he was unable to attend a person comprehensively, it is not right to form a bad opinion about him.
He has always been very nice to me like a big brother and if, I'm asked to do a small role with Shane, I' won't mind doing it. Babar Ali is also not only a good artiste, but he is a very nice human being who helps out the juniors.
How did your family react in this entire journey? My mother has always been with me through all thick and thin of life. She is my big support and whatever I'm today is because of my mother and her prayers. Now, my younger brother Vicky is also in this field. I'll always be there for him and I'll make sure that whatever mistakes I have done in my career my brother won't repeat them.
Who do you hold responsible for the declining cinema? I guess producers and directors are equally responsible as director 'thehkay per film banane nikla huwa hai aur producer chahta hai kay oska aik aana na khurch ho'. Therefore, if a film is made with this approach in mind then how can we expect a film doing wonders at the box office. Public response to Javed Sheikh's 'Yeh Dil Aapka Huwa' has set a new trend and now people want to see a film even better than that.
I think there are only three directors who can make films - Syed Noor, Javed Sheikh and Shaan. They are not only sincere with their project but also have deep concern and sincerity for the cinema. The vertical graph of their films clearly shows that if done with a good will nothing is impossible in our country as well.
The quality of the television plays is not good either as compared to the past when there was the monopoly of PTV. Though, there are a lot of plays coming these days due to the arrival of local private channels, as well as the satellite Urdu channels running equally on the Cable.
Artistes are as busy as bee. So naturally when you'll be working in a number of projects more than the prowess you have, then you won't be able to deliver the best and hence it remains the quality, which suffers at the end.
How was the experience of working in the music videos? I consider myself quite honoured as I have worked in the music videos of legendary singers like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (late) and Madam Noor Jehan (late). It was quite an experience for me as both were legend singers, who still live among us and their services may not be forgotten in centuries to come. In addition, I have worked in the videos of Strings, Naseebo Lal and Ataullah Essa Khailwi.
What kind of roles you personally enjoy to perform? I like the roles where my character is in the main focus because such a role helps get ample margin for performance displaying different shades. I would like to tell you that in my upcoming serials all of my roles invite a great deal of performance. I'm striving my level best to make my presence felt because this is my big chance and I intend to exploit it to the optimum.
You have worked as a model in a number of advertisements. What difference do you find in modeling and acting? I enjoy doing the both. However, they both are different. In acting, you have to mould your personality according to the character you are supposed to perform. Modeling is a brief encounter between a product and a customer. In an advertisement, a model's job is to create a product appealing enough in order to motivate the target customer to buy that product. Besides, all that modeling is a quick way for easy cash.
What have been your weaknesses in your career? I think that my choice of projects was wrong. I scarified a lot for the people who portrayed to be nice with me, but infact they were not. I couldn't understand the warmth of hypocrisy that is the culture of tinsel town.
However, now I have realised that this is the world where everybody is interested in knowing as where do their bread and butter lies. So, either I'll have to go out and follow the same trend or I will have to redefine my priorities.
How do you plan your future? I feel whatever I followed, as a policy was not well defined. I compromised on several things, which proved more than a disaster for my career. I kept accepting everything coming my way without looking at its quality and people associated with it. I wanted to give my luck a chance to do wonder as I have seen many people climbing up the ladder of success in one gallop. I was waiting for that to happen. Now, I have realised that life is not like that with everyone. For some people their luck paves the way but others have to make it by working hard and I fall in the second bracket. Now I'm more focused and determined towards my career.
