Stern: 'Anna Nicole Smith Wanted To Be Buried With Son In Bahamas'.
Anna Nicole Smith's companion and lawyer Howard K Stern is adamant she wanted to be buried next to her 20-year-old son Daniel in the Bahamas.
Daniel died in the Bahamas just days after Smith gave birth to daughter Dannielynn in September (06).
Stern and Smith's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, argued in a Florida courtroom yesterday (20Feb07), over who should have control of the former model's remains.
Stern explained to Judge Larry Seidlin, "Anna and Daniel were inseparable.
Daniel was without question the most important person in Anna's life." According to Stern, at Daniel's funeral, "She said, 'If Daniel has to be buried, I want to be buried with him.'" Arthur argued that Smith's remains should be brought home to her native Texas, insisting that despite their estrangement, she has the right to bury her daughter.
Judge Seidlin initially suggested to lawyers that he needed to establish baby Dannielynn's paternity in order to determine where Smith should be buried.
However, after a brief private conference with all sides in the case, Seidlin said he would attempt to answer the burial question without knowing who the tot's father is.

Stern Accused Of Killing Smith Howard K Stern was accused of killing his client and lover Anna Nicole Smith in court yesterday (20Feb07) by rival LARRY BIRKHEAD's lawyer. Appearing in a Florida courtroom to testify on the fate of Smith's remains, Stern's "lifestyle" was held responsible for the former Playboy Playmate's tragic demise by attorney DEBRA OPRI.
Stern's lawyer Krista Barth complained to Judge Larry Seidlin about the remarks, branding them "unacceptable". She said, "Miss Opri did make a statement to my client that he killed Miss Smith."
However, Stern, who is fighting Birkhead for paternity of Smith's baby daughter Dannielynn, insisted his lover had "emotionally" died months before following her son Daniel's fatal overdose in September (06).
He said, "She talked of death really from the time that I met her."
Smith died on her way to hospital earlier this month (08FEB07) after her nurse found her unconscious in a suite at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Paternity Battle Continues In Court The mystery surrounding the paternity of Anna Nicole Smith's baby daughter Dannielynn is still far from resolution, despite frenzied legal activity yesterday (20Feb07). In a Los Angeles courtroom Howard K Stern's lawyers argued with attorneys for Smith's ex-boyfriend Larry Birkhead over the five-month-old in a closed hearing.
Stern's lawyer, James Neavitt, said Superior Court Judge Robert A Schnider declined to relinquish control over the paternity suit, insisting there were still questions pending as to which state has jurisdiction over the baby's case.
Birkhead's attorney, Debra Opri, reportedly asked the judge to take emergency jurisdiction and have the baby brought to California. According to Neavitt, the judge denied the request.
In another development, Frederic Von Anhalt, the husband of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, filed a separate paternity challenge, claiming he is the father of the baby.
Smith died at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on 8 February (07) at the age of 39. The cause of her death is still under investigation.
