Russell Brand's 'pubic' beard

Russell Brand worries his beard looks like "pubic hair".

The British comedian has grown facial hair to help get into character for an upcoming movie role, but is concerned it is not as thick as he would like.

He said: "I've grown a beard on account I'm doing Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', and you know beard, bard. It turns out they don't want me to have a beard but I've made the decision now and I kind of feel obliged to stick with it.

"This is a month's worth of beard, although I think there's something of the pubic about it, this is a concern. It is a little wiry, I'm hoping to get into Brian Blessed territory, I want to be bombastic. I want to feel like I have gravitas."

Russell also revealed most people don't like his new look and are struggling to hide their repulsion.

He said: "Because it looks like this people are discouraging, faintly discouraging. For example, if you're not very good at dancing, the way that you'll learn that is you'll be doing some dancing and people look at you and you'll see their face will fold into disappointment and disillusionment. It's like that with my beard."
