The actor admits he is terrified of the way the media in Britain maintains a constant watchful eye over celebrities - but hopes the experience will help him.

Cage, who plans to divide his time between the UK and his Bavarian castle, says, "England is interesting, it's sort of like a spiritual cop - truth cop.

If you choose to live there, you really have to keep yourself together, because they can expose you.

"I want to be as truthful as I can and present as truthfully as I can."

Meanwhile the Hollywood star is also learning German so he can speak the language when he spends time with his family in the Bavarian castle he is currently renovating.

Last year (06) the actor bought the dilapidated 11th century 10-bedroom Schloss Neidstein castle and has set about restoring it to its former glory.

And in a bid to fit in with locals, Oscar winner Cage is taking lessons in how to speak German.

He says, "I booked a Berlitz (language school) course. It will take some time until I'm done but in a year or so I will be able to have a conversation in German."
