Charlie Sheen has been on holiday to Mexico with ex-wife Denise Richards and their daughters, returning home yesterday (16.01.12).

Denise Richards has enjoyed a short vacation in Mexico with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.

The former couple took advantage of the public holiday in the US yesterday (16.01.12) to take a break with their daughters Sam, seven, and six-year-old Lola, as well as Eloise, the actress' seven-month-old adopted baby girl.

Denise revealed the trip had not been planned, writing on her twitter page that they were going on a "spontaneous" break.

She wrote on Friday (13.01.12): "Going on a spontaneous trip with the girls this long weekend."

The 40-year-old actress later described their destination of Cabo San Lucas as "paradise".

She tweeted: "Relaxing in paradise watching the game..."

While they had a good time, Denise admitted she was glad to be home when they returned yesterday.

She tweeted: "Great weekend with the family...heading back to reality!

"It's nice to get away but always nicer to come home....girls sound asleep. I have to get up at 4am. Off to bed soon..goodnight!! (sic)"

This is not the first time Denise and Charlie have holidayed together recently.

The pair enjoyed a "modern family vacation" with their kids at an undisclosed destination shortly before Christmas.

Alongside a picture of the quintet, Charlie tweeted: "what's better than a modern family vacation!?! love spending winter break w/ @denise_richards & my kids!
