Munna (Anil Kapoor), a small-time crook and Mohini (Madhuri Dixit), a dancer,
are in love, but her alcoholic father (Anupam Kher), who lives off her earnings,
decides that he wants her to keep on working and supporting the family. He
employs another gangster (Kiran Kumar) to break up their relationship by
threatening to disfigure her face with acid, which is the meaning of the title
of the film. This violent film, set in the murky underworld of street crime in
Mumbai, was director N Chandra’s first big hit and also notable for one hit song
from Laxmikant – Pyarelal Ek Do Teen.
