Ravi an educated boy from a brahmin family droves Taxi on streets of Bombay.
One day early morning meets a beautiful damsel Pooja and its romance at first
sight. But the encounter between two of them is too brief. Ravi (Sanjay Dutt) is
constantly haunted by his memories of past and they are driving him mad - friend
and Restaurant owner Salimbhai (Avtar Gill) takes him to Hospital but refuse the
shock treatment instead decides to leave the cure in the hand of God. Incidently
Gotya (Deepak Tijori) a matka den owner and another close friend Ravi takes him
to red light area which Gotya frequent to meet his fiancee Chanda (Neelima) and
there he sees Pooja (Pooja Bhatt) again trying to run away from the brothel of
Maharani (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) a Eunuch. Pooja becomes Ravi's obsession - Salim
bhai also realises that she might be the care of Ravi's illness - Ravi puts
entire life's savings at stake and sets out to free Pooja from the brothel. He
is able to buy Pooja off from maharani one first night and is allowed to take
her out but Gotya is kept as hostage in brothel. That is why Ravi is forced to
return Pooja to brothel next day in morning but he promises her that he will
come back the same night with more money. That night Maharani having sensed, the
on coming romance between Pooja and Ravi refuses to sell Pooja off to Ravi that
night.
