A mix of action, drama, humor and music with an underlying core of social and
political issues, the film is produced and directed by Manoj Kumar. The story is
about the oldest brother of a very poor family (Manoj Kumar), who holds a degree
but cannot find a job. On the other hand his younger brother (Amitabh Bachchan)
finds that it is easy to earn money illegally. When the elder brother comes to
know of it he punishes his brother. To make amends, Amitabh decides to go join
the army and follow the straight path. The film was notable for a melodious
soundtrack from Laxmikant – Pyarelal, including ‘Hai Hai Yeh Majboori’ and ‘Main
Na Bhulunga’. The film co-stars Shashi Kapoor, Zeenat Aman and Moushumi
Chatterjee. This is a story of longings and loves, needs and romance,
cries and affections, violence and emotions. Claimed to be Manoj Kumars finest
movie of all times.
