Suraj (Rajesh Khanna) is a famous pop-singer who arrives in a remote,
crumbling mansion for a rest cure. He meets a village belle, Jhumri (Hema
Malini) and feels instantly drawn towards her. A series of uncanny experiences
takes place and the two of them discover that they are actually the
re-incarnations of a pair of long-ago lovers who lost their lives tragically and
were not able to be together in life. Events take an even more eerie turn when
the evil man responsible for keeping the original lovers apart, discovers that
Raja and Jhumri know his murderous secret. This dramatic film is directed by
Shakti Samanta and has a great soundtrack from R D Burman, including the
haunting ‘Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon’ and Manna Dey’s classical dance-number ‘Gori
Tori Paijaniya.
