Kisna tells the story of the pre-partition era where Britishers and locals
lived in like a close-knit family. It showcases that not all goras thought of
India in poor light and that, amongst foreigners too were people who loved and
revered India. Contrary to the hatred that has been shown in movies all along,
the film talks about warm vibes between the two. Apart from being a love story
set against the 1940 backdrop, Kisna tries to break away from the stereotype of
calling all firangs villains. Vivek Oberoi plays a mountain boy in the film who
falls in love with Catherine Antonia. Vivek dons an ancient look with a new
nicely oiled side partition hairdo much different from his present eye-covering
frontward hairstyle (check image). It appears as if he plays a Christian in the
film (notice the cross resting on his chest). Now if the contemplation is true,
it would be interesting enough to have a period film on Indian independence with
a Christian protagonist as so far we had only independence films revolving only
around Hindus and Muslims of India. Anyway it’s too early to comment now. Vivek
suffered a minor fracture while shooting for this movie. Isha is the Indian
actress in Kisna. Young, attractive, she is very good dancer. Antonia Bernath
is the foreign actress being starred in this movie. Sushmita Sen is doing a
special appearence in the movie.
