Other transiently or tepidly popular K-A songs this year are ‘Der hai andher nahin pyaare.’ and ‘Kaahen ki dosti.’ (Khaan Dost), ‘Tumhi ho tumhi ho jaaneman...’ and ‘Tera mera mera tera jab.’ (Rangeela Ratan) and “Bandhi re kaahe preet.’ (Sankoch). Kalyanji Anandji’s Lata hit ‘Jaa re jaa o harjaaee.’ from Kalicharan will be claimed by the composer duo in 1993 to be the base of Laxmikant-Pyarelal’s chartbuster ‘Choli ke peeche kya hai...’ from another Subhash Ghai film, Khal-Nayak! Bappi Lahiri’s Chalte Chalte (audio released in 1975) hits the theatres. The failure of the film affects the popularity of the songs.

Sangraam’s ‘Chandi ki payaliya bole.’ (Lata) and ‘Allah hi dega...’ (Rafi) enjoy a brief reign at the top. Despite hits like Nagin, Charas, Jaaneman, Bairaag and Mausam, this is Rafi’s lowest-ebb. Come March,1977 and it will be another story.
