Ram Prasad (Amol Palekar) is a young man in search of a job. An old friend,
Dr Kedar (David) tells him about a well-paid job and Ram Prasad goes to check it
out. He meets the opinionated, old-fashioned boss, Bhavani Shankar (Utpal Dutt),
who declares that modern-day young men are useless, time-wasting creatures who
don’t even sport a manly moustache. Ram is relieved that he does have a
moustache! He gets the job but complications arise when he wants to go for a
cricket match, setting off a zany trail of lies and subterfuges as Ram invents a
ne-er-do-well younger brother Lakshman to account for all his own shortcomings!
Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s comic genius sparkles, Utpal Dutt’s character is
unforgettably funny and the situations keep audiences laughing non-stop. R D
Burman’s great soundtrack includes ‘Aane Waala Pal’. Bindiya Goswami plays the
leading lady.
