This film is story of a man who enshrine his name in the hearts of the people
whom they endear and enrich with love, compassion and selfless service. He loved
the sleazy slums in which he lived. He defiantly served and identified himself
with the poor around him. He never bowed his head in front of cruel forces of
authoritarion Law that sought to trample the people. He stood undaunted and
unbent against shattering storms of cruelty and in-humanity. His tears could not
drown his anger and sorrow at the inhumanity of the rich and the powerful to his
poor slum dwellers. The social cause was to him dearer than his personal bonds
of love and blood. He was not afraid of the brute force that was unleashed
against him. Yet all this did not harden his soul that was innocent like that of
a child. Like a Messiah, he dedicated his life to the upliftment, service and
protection of the poor and the suffering. In the battle for human dignity, he
always stood for the rights and self respect of those who were deprived and
plundered. This extraordinary man was christened by the poor masses with a name
that expressed their love and admiration for their hero. They called him 'Dayavan'.The Compassionate One!
