Chote Babu

Director:
Chandan Arora
Starring: Rajpal Yadav, Rituparna Sengupta
Music Director: Huefza Lokhandwala

Main Meri Patni Aur Woh is about a peculiar situation in which a five feet two inches short Mithilesh Shukla ( aka Chote Babu) from Luckhnow meets a mature and attractive five feet eight inches tall Veena Mishra from Bareily. Chote Babu (played by Rajpal Yadav) and Veena (Rituparna Sengupta) make an apparently mismatched pair but still they fall in love while undergoing the processes of arranged marriage. The marriage is happy and blissful till Chote Babu realizes that there is more to having a lissome and intelligent wife. The apparent mismatch, physical and otherwise, between him and his wife starts bothering him after a certain stage. Herein we get into an insecure male mind that starts seeing things more than they appear. The situation gets accentuated with the entry of a person who is everything that Chote Babu would have liked to be. Main Meri Patni aur Woh is a slice of life romantic comedy that aims to explore love...marriage. …understanding… laughter and tears, fights and fears – between the odd couple in love. A National School of Drama graduate (Delhi, 1997) Rajpal got noticed on the Delhi theatre scene. He soon moved to Mumbai to work in films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chati Hoon, Jungle, Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, Hungama, Kal Ho Na Ho, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Vaastu Shastra among others. He has been awarded and nominated in various categories for his films. Screen and Sansui Awards for Best Villain in Jungle (directed by Rajat Mukherjee) and Marshal Comedy award for Hungama (directed by Priyadarshan) Nominations include Zee Cine Best Actor for Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon (directed by Chandan Arora), Sansui best Comedian for Hungama and IIFA Best Actor in a comedy role for Kal Ho Na ho (directed by Nikhil Advani) Two times National award winner Rituparna has worked with the Best Directors known to the Bengali Film Industry – with Buddhadeb Das Gupta in Manda Meyer Upakhyan, with Paro Mitra in Lathhi ( for which she won the Uttam Kumar National Award) and Dohan (for which she won the National Award). Her other films include Alok ( an Indo Bengali production in the US directed by Tarun Majumdar), Sindoorer Adhikar ( co – star Prasenjit), Deshi Dardi (co – star Manna), Mohini (directed by Hema Malini), Tomar Amar Prem ( co – star Amin Khan) Miss Maitrayee, Panga Bou and Sesh Chitti. With eight of her films due for release and seven on floor, Ritu has struck a balance between commercial and parallel cinema.
