Raju (Raj Kapoor) the estranged son of Judge Raghunath (Prithviraj Kapoor)
finds a surrogate father in the criminal Jagga (K N Singh) the dacoit who caused
Raju's mother to be thrown out of her home. Raju eventually kills Jagga and
tries to kill Raghunath, before he redeems himself in the eyes of the judge and
wins the love of his sweetheart, Rita (Nargis), who is now the lawyer defending
him in court.
