Agnishakshi
Director: Partho Ghosh Starring: Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Manisha Koirala
Music Director: Nadeem Shravan
Agnisakshi follows Yaarana as a better version of the English superhit
'Sleeping with the Enemy'. The movie starts out with a love story between Ravi (Ravi
Behl) and Shubangi's cousin (Divya Dutt). Ravi cannot marry his love because his
older brother Suraj (Jackie Shroff) is not married yet. So, Ravi tries to
convince him to tie the nuptial knot. Suraj is a rich businessman who hasn not
thought of anything other than business until he bumps into Shubangi (Manisha
Koirala). Koirala does a wonderful job of portraying a character who has two
sides to her personality. After the inevitable fall-in-love routine, Suraj and
Shubangi get married. On their honeymoon, Shubangi bumps into a man named
Vishwanath (Nana Patekar) who claims that she is his wife, Madhu. Patekar is
shown as a smart but excessively possessive villain who loves his wife (Koirala's
character) dearly. His subtle, intimidating looks make him perfect for the role.
The movie continues to deliver more suspense as the story unfolds. Watch the
movie to find out the suspense. Nana Patekar and Manisha Koirala are outstanding
in their performances. Jackie Shroff’s acting is good but can be better. Divya
Dutt and Ravi Behl are literally forgotten after the intermission. Nadeem
Sharavan's music is pleasurable. Partho Ghosh's direction is outstanding.
Cinematography is vividly exciting; the choreography however remains
repetitively dull. The violence portrayed is well contained and not overdone.
