Vertical blinds are commonly found in many homes and offices. They have many functions. They act like shades, blocking bright sun’s rays from going into the office. Vertical blinds are also good decorative materials with many colors to choose from and they can add a streamlined appearance to a room. In many offices, they are also installed to protect the privacy of the occupant inside. That said, vertical blinds get dirty very easily. When a person accidentally steps on them, the whole blinds comes tumbling down. Drawing the blinds frequently also causes the blinds to get jammed or stuck. However, replacing vertical blinds is something that is easy to do.

1. Measure the Vertical Blinds
Before even installing the vertical blinds, the first thing that must be done is to measure the length first. This is a very critical step. Depending on whether the plan is to mount it inside or mount it outside, the measurement will differ. If mounting from the inside, make sure that the depth of the window is long enough for the vanes to work properly. Measure the width at the top of the window. Subtract about 1/8 inch from the measurement. This will give the height of the blinds. If mounting from the outside, measure the width of the window and add 2 inches. This will be the width of the blinds. Measure the height of the window and add about 5 inches. At this length, the window blinds should be long enough to block the sunlight.
