How To Fold a Fitted Sheet
You feel that you don't have enough hands when it comes time to fold a fitted sheet? Don't despair. There is a way! We'll tell you how to fold a fitted sheet perfectly every time. Your linen closet will look neater and the sheets will be easier to find when you need them.
Difficulty: Easy Time Required: 2 minutes Here's How: Lay the clean and dry sheet on a bed or large tabletop. Slide each hand into the two top corners of the sheet from the inside, right sides out. Keeping the hands in the corners, bring your hands together, folding the sheet in half. Each hand should now be holding one top and one bottom corner of the sheet. Place the folded sheet on a bed or table and straighten out the folded corners. Fold in the long edges of the sheet to make a neat, straight rectangle.
With the sheet now laying flat on the surface, pick up two corners and fold the sheet in half again, then once more. All four corners will be in the same place and you will have a long strip of folded sheet. Gather together two short sides of the sheet and bring this end to the other side with two short sides. You'll still have a long piece, but shorter now. Fold the strip again in half or thirds, depending on the size of your sheet and the space where you'll place it in the closet. If you have a small storage area, you might want to fold the sheet to a narrower rectangle. Use your hands to "hand press" the folded sheet and smooth out most of the wrinkles. Place the sheet neatly in its place on the storage shelf.
Tips: If you practice, your sheets will stay neat and look orderly on the storage shelf. Fold the fitted sheet and pillow cases between the folds of the flat sheet for the bed they're used on. If they're kept in sets, they'll be easier to find when you need them. To take any guesswork out of what sheet you're looking for, label the shelves for the size of sheets that's on the shelf. Or use the top sheet for twin sheets and the next for queen sheets and so on. It will make it easier when it's time to change the sheets. If you have printed sheets, fold the pattern out so you can match sets easily. What You Need: A clean fitted sheet
