1. Before tweezing the brows, cleanse the skin. If you cannot stand the pain of plucking, numb the area first with babies’ teething gel or with an ice cube.

2. Don’t try to salvage nail polish that has dried out and gone hard by diluting it with nail polish remover. It will not solve the problem, so just throw it away.

3. If you nail scissors are blunt or the edges of your tweezers have lost their grip, you can run sandpaper gently over the inner blunt edges to sharpen them.

4. When you’re looking for make-up brushes, go first to art supply stores. You can pick up great brushes for half the price of those found in cosmetic shops.

5. Try not to lend make-up brushes to other people as this can spread infections. If you have no choice, always wash brushes thoroughly before reusing them.

6. When the bristles of your brushes start to become untidy and begin to fray, revamp them by using a pair of nail scissors to trim stray hairs back into shape.

7. After applying your moisturizer, you should always allow the skin to absorb it and settle for at least ten minutes before smoothing on any make-up preparations.

8. You should never buff the nails after taking a bath or shower, because the cuticles will be too soft then and so damage might occur to the surrounding skin.

9. If you want to apply eyeshadow with a sponge-tipped applicator, don’t try using those provided in the palettes as their size can make them hard to manoeuvre.

10. After plucking you eyebrows, do not apply any make-up for at least an hour. Tweezing before bed gives an irritation time to calm down while you’re asleep.
