Captivating

The most prominent feature of the face are the eyes and Asian women are famous for their beautiful dark eyes! Here are some very effective eye make-up tips to complement your most captivating feature

Create dimension with eye shadow. Three tones of eye shadow is ideal, but two will work. Choose three complimentary shades;

1. Light shades: Sweep with medium firm, soft haired, eye make up brush, from your upper lids lash line to the brow bone area, just past your eye lid crease.

2. Medium shades: Using top narrow edge of same brush, follow natural crease on upper lid, creating visual presence but blending well.

3. Dark shades: Using smaller eye makeup brush, with firm bristles, sweep along upper lash line blending as far as the crease and if you choose, under lower lash line, as well.

Good eye make up tip: When applying eye shadow, a lot of residual dust can land around the eye, creating unattractive results. To avoid this try placing a flat folded tissue under the lower lash line when brushing shadow on.

Common eye shapes and complimenting eye liner techniques...

1 Round: Line the outer two-thirds of the upper and lower lash lines, to lengthen the eye. Also, try angling the line upwards (upper lash line) as it moves towards the corner. The result will be a slightly thicker line at outer corners.

Mascara emphasis placed on outer corner upper lashes.

2 Almond: Suits many styles and techniques. Generally, line entire upper lash line and use neutral eye shadow.

Optional to line lower lash line and soften with brush.

3 Asian: Line upper lash line starting at outer third and extending straight horizontal line to corner, filling gap between line and lashes with liner. Completely line lower lash line.Soften lines with a brush.

Highlight center of upper lid, and blend out on each side.

Use eyelash curler, and mascara upper and lower lashes.

4 Small eyes: Line rim of lower lid with white, flesh colour or blue to make the eyes brighter. Use of eyelash curler is very important. Mascara upper and lower lashes.

5 Close-set eyes: Line outer third of upper and lower lash lines, to create distance between the eyes. Mascara emphasis should be placed on outer corners of upper lashes.

6 Wide-set eyes: Line inner third of upper and lower lashes with dark colour. Shadow play should not go beyond, but blend into area above outer corner of eyes.

Eye lash curler to maximise eye widening effect... this step should not be optional for anyone because the results are so positively dramatic. Make sure this step comes before the mascara.

Looking directly into the mirror, maneuver the open curler towards the base of your upper lashes. Close gently to the point of a slight pull. Do not tug, on your eyelashes. Count to three and gently open and maneuver away from the eye.

Complete your eye make-up with precise mascara application :

1 Start at the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand slightly to have the mascara bristles grip and coat as many lashes as possible, as the wand wiggles up, towards the tips.

2 Don't put too many coats on. Doing the preceding well twice, plus reworking the outer eye corner lashes, is enough.

3 Be strategic in how much you apply, if you apply to your lower lashes. Holding the wand vertically, will allow more precision placement, and a stroke by stroke assessment of how much looks good on you.

4 Definitely finish with a brush to separate lashes and remove any clumps.

Using a soft cotton swab, remove eye shadow dust, mascara speckles etc from the eye area: This will ensure a clean, precise and polished "maximum impact " appearance to your eye make-up.

Eye colour rules

* Keep deeper colours on the lid.

* Use lighter colours on the brow bone.

* For a casual but polished look, sweep one shade from lashes to brow bone.

* Use cream shadows sparingly - the colours tend to be very vivid.

* Eye gloss is the newest trend. It adds a sheer shine to lids, but don't try it unless you know you can carry it off - it can look greasy and inappropriate.

* Apply powder eyeliners wet for more intense colour.

* White, pink and yellow eyeliner pencils tend to make the eyes look open and brighter. Blue counteracts redness, and black will give you a sultry look.
