This Friday is a big disaster for Bollywood as all the three releases miserably fail though some of them possess nice content worth a movie and also a very talented cast. 'Bolo Raam' also falls in this category. It has a very experienced cast though its protagonist Rishi Bhutani lacks the required skill, and the director fails in his job of handling the new guy! This is therefore another directorial disaster.
Moreover, 2009's best Aamir Khan starrer has already been running in theaters. So, to stand in competition with it is just difficult, if not impossible, for all the three releases.
Besides, we wonder why the director has assembled a huge cast for 'Bolo Raam' that has hardly any good role for most of them. Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Padmini Kolhapure are completely a waste. We pity Padmini Kolhapure to come back to Bollywood via this movie.
Though a remake of the Tamil film 'Raam' starring Jeeva, Saranya, Rehman, Murali, 'Bolo Raam' meets bad luck because of non-actors, especially its hero playing Raam.
In the movie's story, Raam played by Rishi Bhutani is accused of the murder of his mother Archana played by Padmini Kolhapure because he is found lying beside her stabbed body with knife in hand. The question arises if Raam killed his mother?
Consequently, Raam suffers a shock and refuses to react. Om Puri playing an investigator in Indrajeet Singh Rathi is unable to make Raam speak, and therefore consults Dr Negi played by Naseeruddin Shah, to determine the reason for Raam's silence.
Then, Rathi summons Raam's neighbours - sub-inspector Sajid Khan's in Govind Namdev, daughter Juhi in Disha Pandey and son Sameer in Krishan Khatra, but in vain. Naturally, Raam loses his cool at this stage when he is made a suspect in the murder of his mother! We wonder why the writer couldn't think of a better climax.
Rajpal Yadav appears as another suspect. But, the dead woman's `character' is questioned if this single mother had an affair. Here, the director introduces a jihadi angle as is seen in 'Kurbaan'. It's amazing and beyond one's comprehension.
Among the cast, the protagonist Rishi Bhutani completely fails in his role even when compared to his love lady Disha Pandey who falls short in her acting too. Rajpal Yadav is wasted.
All these senior actors are seen in the movie for playing a very, very brief stint. Less said better about debutante director Rakesh Chaturvedi, who fails in all respects. The music by Sachin Gupta also falls short of our expectation. Only one song "Maa Tere Jaisa" deserves a mention.
